About Us

Here is our story.

❝ There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. ❞

We believe that there is more to life than isolated success. Life is meant to be shared. Our goal is provide a daily dose of inspiring stories that will transform lives from the inside out.

👋 Hi! Welcome to Kenyan Lives where we aim to publish inspiring stories on the lives of ordinary Kenyans living extraordinary lives. My name is Paul and I've quickly put together this site in the hope that it will be useful to some. The idea to put up this website first occurred to me when I watched a YouTube video about a gentleman by the name Patrick Mutoro and how, despite the odds against him, has managed to excel in fascinating ways. Patrick Mutoro as born in grinding poverty but his brilliant mind enabled him to excel in school and rise to become a teacher in one of Kenya's best secondary schools. I was gripped by his story and thought that of the thousands of Kenyans who do not have the Internet bandwidth to watch YouTube videos: wouldn't they benefit just as well if they could read the exact same story?

I believe that stories are a powerful way to convey values especially when they are true stories about real people. While fables are just as meaningful, they can be remote and disconnected from the humdrum of ordinary life. I also believe that everyone has a story to tell, which can save others innumerable years and advance the human story forward.

I recall reading a book One Hundred Reasons to Become A Scientist by the The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, which was a gift from a friend, and how some of the scientists had risen from similarly dire circumstances to become award-winning scientists working on some of the most fascinating problems. I recall reading through tear-glazed eyes and dreaming that something could become of my life and my love for mathematics and computers.

I sincerely hope you enjoy this website as much as I've enjoyed putting it together and that, like me, you may be able to find the odd nugget of wisdom that opens your eyes to the possibilities.
